Introduction

This Privacy Policy outlines how chat interactions with the artificial intelligence agent on this portfolio website are processed, recorded, and managed. I value transparency and want you to understand exactly what happens to the messages you exchange with the agent.

1. Data Processing and Technology

The interactive chatbot is powered in the background by Google's Gemini large language models via the Google Generative Language API. When you send a message, your conversation history is sent to Google's servers to process the request and generate a response.

The conversation is guided strictly by professional knowledge base documents (e.g., CV details, experience chronologies, and project details) and does not have access to any external personal data about you unless you choose to type it in.

2. Chat Logging and Usage

To improve the performance of the chatbot, monitor operational metrics, and review the types of professional questions asked by visitors, chat interactions are logged. The following information is stored in a secure serverless database:

  • The text of questions asked by the visitor.
  • The text of responses generated by the agent.
  • Message timestamps and a generated session identifier (to group messages in the same conversation).
  • API metadata such as token consumption counts and the model version used.
  • Traffic origin indicators (such as the referring website, e.g. LinkedIn or Direct) and general country location derived from request headers.
  • Your first name and email address, if you choose to provide them for follow-up contact.

Logs are reviewed exclusively by Matthias Manzone for quality assurance, debugging, and analytics purposes. No conversations are sold, shared with third parties, or used for advertising.

3. No PII Requested

You are not required to log in, register, or provide any Personally Identifiable Information (PII)—such as your real name, phone number, email address, or home address—to use the chat agent. Please do not share sensitive personal information, passwords, or credentials in the chat window.

4. GDPR & Data Rights (Access and Deletion)

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), even if chat sessions are anonymous and grouped solely by temporary browser session identifiers, you retain rights over your inputs. If you choose to provide your first name and email address for follow-up, you retain the same rights over this contact information. If you wish to request access to your conversation transcripts, view your captured lead details, or request the complete deletion of your chat logs and contact details from my database, you can contact me directly.

Please send all data access, correction, or deletion requests to matthias@manzone.org. When making a request, please provide details of the approximate date, time, or your email address to help locate your specific session log and lead data.

5. Cookies

The chat widget utilizes temporary browser storage (sessionStorage) to maintain conversation state during your visit. This prevents the agent from losing context when you click links or navigate the portfolio. No cross-site tracking cookies are deployed by this website.
